Cognitive Misunderstanding of the Functionality of Mountaineering Boots
Reading times:381  Update time:2023-03-29
1、 Mistakes in waterproofing
1. Don't think all outdoor shoes and hiking shoes are waterproof. Generally, the lining of mountain climbing shoes does not have a waterproof film layer, but only the surface is treated with water splashing prevention and coating, which can only be waterproof for a short period of time.
2. Most professional mountaineering shoes use a Gore-tex waterproof layer to achieve waterproofing. But if the water doesn't reach the edge of the waterproof sock, it will still leak. In addition, if you soak in water for a long time, the waterproof layer and upper will produce siphonage, and still lose its waterproof effect.

3. Blindly pursuing waterproof properties while neglecting the breathability of shoes, resulting in wet soles that are prone to frostbite or blistering. In dry environments, especially in summer, the breathability of mountaineering shoes should be given priority. Generally, mountaineering shoes with waterproof socks have significantly lower breathability.

2、 Mistakes in breathability
1. Not all mountaineering shoes are very breathable. It is important to know that shoes with a high upper naturally lack breathability compared to those with a low upper. Those with a waterproof sock cover layer do not have breathability without this layer. Different mountaineering shoes have different functional aspects, and none of them feels perfect.
2. After wearing hiking shoes for a period of time, the problem with the breathability of the shoes is that they are not breathable. To know that everyone's situation is different, it is important to wear cotton socks and outdoor socks to help absorb sweat and maintain the warmth inside the shoes, especially for people with sweaty feet.
3、 Mistakes in wear resistance
1. Many people complain that the soles of mountaineering shoes are too hard. It is important to know that rubber soles are hard to wear, so as to protect the soles of feet when traveling in the wild. Otherwise, the soles of mountaineering shoes will have to be scrapped if they are climbed once.
2. Common mountaineering shoes are rubber soles with Q strength, while powdered rubber tends to peel off and not last long.
3. Don't think V-soles are good and wear-resistant. In fact, V-soles can be divided into many types, and may not necessarily be used on mountaineering shoes. Depending on the performance of different shoes, they may vary.

4、 Mistakes in slip resistance
1. The skid resistance of mountain climbing shoes is reflected in their ability to grip the ground, which is closely related to the design of the sole tooth marks, rather than the thicker the teeth, the more skid resistant they are.
2. The skid resistance and wear resistance of rubber soles are inversely proportional. Rubber is very wear-resistant and therefore has a much weaker skid resistance, so the design of tread patterns is crucial.
3. "We know that the V sole also has good skid resistance, mainly reflected in the tread pattern of the shoe sole.".
5、 Misunderstandings in other aspects
1. The size of the hiking shoes is just right, or they are a bit cramped. I think they will become loose after wearing them for a while. Know that the length of hiking shoes won't change because you wear them for a while. In particular, there is no gap left on the toe of the shoe, which can cause the foot to be crushed when going downhill under heavy loads, and in severe cases, it can cause blisters or even wear out.
2. Wear your newly bought hiking shoes to climb the mountain. Be careful not to get hurt. Newly purchased hiking shoes all have a run-in period, as the upper and sole of the shoes are very hard and sturdy, and it is not suitable to wear them just now, and it is easy to grind your feet. It is best to wear thick socks to reduce friction and better adapt.
