How to choose shoes?
Reading times:29  Update time:2025-03-28
How to choose shoes, there are several principles for everyone to refer to:
Principle 1: The sole of the shoe should be at least 1 centimeter
If the sole is too thin, in addition to poor foot feel, there will also be significant safety hazards, such as stepping on nails while walking. Therefore, choosing shoes with a sole of at least 1 centimeter is not only more comfortable but also safer.
Principle 2: The front and rear height of the sole should be consistent
If the back of the sole (heel) is high, it will cause uneven force on the knee and increase the risk of knee joint burden. Therefore, it is recommended to choose shoes with a similar height in the front and back of the sole to make the knee force more evenly distributed.
 Principle 3: Good elasticity
In addition to the height of the sole, the elasticity of the shoes is also a key factor in selection. Shoes with poor elasticity, such as hard soled shoes or soft ballet shoes, can easily cause unnatural foot movements and increase the burden on the knee joints. Therefore, it is recommended to choose shoes with better elasticity such as jogging shoes and air cushioned shoes to make foot movements more natural and smooth, and also reduce the burden on the knee joints.
 Principle 4: Choose something lighter
Wearing light shoes makes walking easier and more natural, so your steps won't drag on the ground.

Although it takes at least a while to know how to choose shoes, shoes that usually have a heavy joint burden have the following characteristics:
Heavy shoes: such as work boots or hiking shoes. If you wear heavy shoes for a long time, it will put a greater burden on your knee joints and tighten your muscles.
High heels: Wearing high heels frequently can cause the muscles in front and behind the knee joint to become tense, which can eventually lead to knee joint soreness.
Tai Song's shoes: like slippers, etc. If you often wear slippers and walk on your stomach, your feet will tighten in order to grip the shoes tightly, and the force on your knee joints will also increase.

Too hard shoes: like very hard leather shoes. If people wear leather shoes with a hard bottom, the shoes cannot absorb the force exerted by the knee joint, which in turn adds to the knee joint and is not good for the knee joint over time. In addition, some rain shoes and boots that are too hard and too loose to wear can also increase the burden on the knee joints. These shoes made of materials that are too hard cannot be bent, which limits the movement of various joints in the foot. Even with insoles, walking will not improve much.
