Why Slippers always have a strong odor when they absorb water?
Reading times:119  Update time:2024-10-15

Because slippers are usually made of breathable materials, and their soles and uppers have air holes. If they absorb water, the water may remain in the air holes and mix with sweat, stains, etc. After fermentation, it becomes a breeding ground for bacteria. When there are many bacteria, it will have a strong odor, so after absorbing water, its odor will be more obvious. If you want to remove the odor, you can soak the slippers in a mixture of vinegar, laundry detergent, water, and floral water, scrub them, and then blow dry them in a well ventilated place. This odor usually disappears quickly, but precautions should be taken afterwards, otherwise the slippers will have another odor after a period of time.

How to deal with the constant odor when washing slippers
If the slippers have a strong odor after absorbing water, you can first add vinegar, laundry detergent, and floral water to cold water in sequence, stir and soak the slippers in it for an hour, then brush it clean. Be sure to completely brush it clean, and then place the slippers in a ventilated place to dry. After drying, the smell will be significantly improved.

How to prevent slippers from becoming smelly
1. Removing odors is easy, but to make slippers odorless, precautions should be taken regularly. The first step to prevention is to change slippers frequently. You can prepare several pairs of slippers to wear alternately every day. The changed slippers must be promptly deodorized with deodorizers or bamboo charcoal, and placed in a ventilated area for blowing.

2. If you wear slippers in summer, you can choose wooden slippers with less soft materials, or wear them with cotton socks. As long as you don't let too much sweat enter the pores, the odor will not be so strong. Of course, it is not recommended to wear too hard ones, otherwise it will be uncomfortable.

3. Finally, slippers should not be soaked in water frequently. If they absorb water, they should be dried as soon as possible, because slippers may also mold in a damp environment for a long time, and mold usually occurs in the pores. Therefore, do not soak them in water frequently, but clean them daily by wiping them with a damp towel
