Both modal and pure cotton have their own advantages and applicable scenarios, and there is no absolute distinction between good and bad. It depends on your needs, personal preferences, and the suitable range of fabric characteristics!.

Modal is an artificial fiber with characteristics such as softness, breathability, and good moisture absorption. Compared to pure cotton, it is more wear-resistant, less prone to wrinkling, and has better wrinkle resistance. In addition, the glossiness and softness of modal fabric are higher than pure cotton, providing a more comfortable touch.

Pure cotton is a natural fiber that is soft and comfortable, has good breathability, strong moisture absorption, is skin friendly, and is not prone to generating static electricity. In addition, pure cotton is also relatively durable and easy to clean and maintain.
Additionally, when we talk about modal, it refers to fabrics woven from modal fibers. Modal fiber is a new type of regenerated cellulose fiber invented by Lanjing Company, which uses natural materials such as wood as raw materials to make pulp, and then uses specialized spinning techniques to make fibers.

The fibers made by this process are called modal, and their orientation is relatively accurate!

However, when we talk about all cotton, the scope is very broad, with various types and styles of fabrics, making it difficult to simply compare!
From a fundamental perspective, modal outperforms pure cotton in the following aspects:

1. Softness and comfort: Modal fiber has a fineness of 1 dtex, while cotton fiber has a fineness of 1.5-2.5 tex and silk has a fineness of 1.3 dtex. Therefore, Modal fabric is softer and smoother, with a luster comparable to silk and more comfortable than cotton.

2. Moisture absorption: Modal fiber has a 50% higher moisture absorption ability than cotton fiber, making it an ideal close fitting fabric that can help keep the skin dry more than cotton.

3. Wear resistance: Modal fiber has the strength and initial properties of synthetic fibers, with a dry strength of 35.6cn and a wet strength of 25.6cn. Higher strength than pure cotton or even polyester cotton;

4. Easy to dye with high color fastness and bright color: The dyeing performance is good and remains as bright as new after multiple washes, with thorough moisture absorption and good color fastness. Compared with pure cotton, it is more comfortable to wear, without the disadvantages of easy fading and yellowing of pure cotton clothing.

5. High glossiness: Modal fabric has a good glossiness, which is more textured than pure cotton.
In the following aspects, modal is not as good as pure cotton:

1. High temperature resistance: Modal fabrics are not as resistant to high temperatures as pure cotton, and are easily scalded by high temperatures, requiring low-temperature ironing.

2. Not resistant to bleaching: Modal fabrics are not as resistant to bleaching as pure cotton, and are prone to discoloration and damage.

3. Easy to deform: Modal fabrics are not very resistant to water, especially warm water, which can easily deform. It is necessary to pay attention to maintenance and cleaning.

Overall, modal and pure cotton have their own advantages and disadvantages, and suitable fabrics need to be selected according to actual needs. Excluding the factor that modal fabric is more expensive and expensive than pure cotton, if you focus on the comfort of clothes, the softness of fabrics, as well as wrinkle resistance and wear resistance, modal fabric is a good choice; If you focus on natural materials, breathability, and easy cleaning and maintenance, then pure cotton fabric is a better choice.
