In the past, there was a simple type of bullet bag vest, which troops used to call a bullet bag or carrying gear. This was a layer of Molle fabric, containing several bullet bags and accessories.
In actual combat, it is necessary to wear a special layer of bulletproof vest inside, and some units are also accustomed to wearing shoulder bags and water bottles, which is very bulky overall and not conducive to most operations.
But if it is only used as a simple bullet bag and does not contain useless accessories, it is similar to the use of a chest strap. Performing simple casual escort tasks is definitely enough.
The second is other bulletproof layers.
Consider whether the bulletproof layer on the side and crotch is needed, or choose based on specific actions. Basically, only one layer of Kevlar can be hung on the crotch to block fragments.
For example, the European anti-terrorism forces and police are accustomed to close range heavy armor operations, which are heavy full protective tactical vests, wearing steel helmets and bulletproof masks for operations.
However, most special forces operations still place greater emphasis on flexibility and maneuverability, and in most combat techniques, they also emphasize direct contact with the enemy. As a result, lightweight tactical vests with front and rear steel plates can meet most operational needs.
Especially for overseas operations or tasks that require long-distance marching and infiltration, it is necessary to carry a large amount of combat equipment and wear heavy armor to cross mountains and rivers, which is a certain difficulty.
Finally, quality issues.
Poor quality tactical vests with poor fixing ability at the bottom of the bulletproof plate can easily fall off during long-distance marches, which requires special attention.
The most reliable feature is a double layer of protection, such as adding additional fixing straps at the bottom to ensure that the bulletproof plate does not easily fall off.
2. Degree of modularity
One is Molle ribbon.
The most basic requirement is to have a complete Molle mount system before and after.
Some tactical vests, in order to save fabric and overall weight, may even give up Molle webbing at the back or front, or cut and hollowed out on a large scale for ventilation and breathability. This type of vest can be used for simple conventional combat tasks, but due to its weak mounting capacity, it is difficult to adapt to high-intensity and higher professional special operations.
Molle webbing is the foundation of all tactical mounts.
Different personnel and professions may have their own special needs, such as EOD requiring additional configuration of detonators, blasting shears, and demolition tool sets;
Scouts need to be equipped with special reconnaissance equipment, monitoring equipment, etc., combined with magazine storage and weapon carrying, so they need to flexibly configure their tactical vests.
The second is the chest hanging module.
Most tactical vests come with three or four parallel rifle magazine pockets, and in most cases, this is not a problem.
But if it's a sniper or heavy fireman who carries different specifications of sniper magazines, machine gun drums, and magazines, then this standard rifle magazine bag is very weak.
They need to choose a module with a completely "clean" chest and install the magazine bag they need to meet their operational needs.
The third is the lumbar connection.
Generally speaking, three or more Molle connection straps can meet most loading needs, such as placing communication devices at the rear of the side, configuring additional magazines, or inserting bulletproof plates.
There are also more lightweight vests, with only one connecting strap, making it difficult to attach equipment on the side.
Each has its own advantages, and the specific selection must be based on actual needs.
The fourth is the back panel.
There is a Molle system on the back, which can actually meet most loading needs.
For example, installing a grenade accessory on the back, hanging a dagger upside down, carrying a demolition tool, and directly connecting to the Molle backplane.
But if there are zippers on both sides, it can be more convenient and stable to connect the tactical backboard, thus better carrying the required equipment.
3. Quick disassembly system
Quick buckles on both sides
Modern tactical vests can basically meet the requirements of normal wear and tear, and can be opened and worn with a simple Velcro pull.
A new tactical vest needs to be repeatedly pasted back and forth in order to be worn. This wearing method has its own considerations, but overall, it is still relatively anti human.
The latter also has an obvious problem, which is the inability to install a quick disconnect system.
Installing quick release buckles on both sides of the waist to achieve quick on and off is of certain tactical value.
When entering extremely narrow spaces, the tactical vest cannot enter and needs to be released. On the one hand, the Velcro is too loud, and on the other hand, the speed is too slow. A quick release button can solve this problem.
In pursuit operations, wearing heavy bulletproof vests makes it difficult to maneuver quickly and requires light pursuit. At this point, quick release is a tactical requirement.
Shoulder quick release buckle
The quick release buttons on both sides of the shoulder joint can achieve instant detachment.
This momentary disengagement requires a response to more extreme situations.
For example, in the VBSS operation, if you are forced to jump into the water and need to leave quickly, you need to instantly release your bulletproof vest and swim lightly to leave.
For example, during the process of evacuating the line of fire, the tactical vest was hooked and there was no time to check. Instead, the quick release button was directly pulled open to quickly leave the line of fire.
Finally, let's talk about some ideas:
For equipment, it is never fixed and only has a certain usage, or it must be used in this way.
Equipment is dead, people are alive, ultimately it depends on how people use it.
There are different application scenarios for lightweight, heavy armor, chest mounted vest, and so on,
Actual combat is not about playing Wargame, there are not so many disdainful chains, and completing tasks is the most fundamental perspective of thinking.
Good equipment allows us to handle special situations, meet tactical needs, and persist from start to finish tasks.
