In terms of functions, tropical boots, temperate boots and cold boots are three categories, but the names used by different services will be somewhat different
Tropical boots, also known as desert boots, mainly focus on keeping feet dry and improving comfort in high temperature environment. The lining is either single-layer Cordura fiber / special nylon cloth, and the better ones are replaced with sweat absorbing and quick drying materials such as super lining or Coolmax; Jungle Boots are the ancestor of tropical boots in terms of some properties, but Jungle Boots may strengthen the quick drying performance
Temperate boots, which emphasize on providing waterproof and breathable performance in a humid and rainy tropical environment, are mostly made of Gore Tex lining, which is effectively waterproof for 4-6 hours; It can be regarded as a product between Jungle Boots, flying boots and desert boots. It can be used in desert environment, but the comfort is not high, and it is more suitable for watery environment and drivers (the environment in the cockpit is uncomfortable, and the feet don't move often, so this kind of boots is very good); However, it is not suitable for the environment where the water depth exceeds the upper, and it is difficult for this kind of boots to dry out in a short time after entering the water
Cold zone boots, based on warm zone boots, add warmth retention ability, which is enough to cope with low temperature and accumulated water after ice and snow melt, and are also more suitable for pilots (mainly bombers) to keep their feet warm when working at heights
